The Israeli Defense Force launched a major air and ground offensive in Gaza; 63 Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers were killed during the fighting. The Israel Air Force targeted Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh’s Gaza headquarters. Six Israeli civilians were wounded after more than 40 rockets landed in Ashkelon. The Palestinian Authority suspended talks after the Israeli raids in Gaza.
