Unprecedented Coalition strike nails the Haqqani Network in North Waziristan


Military officials have confirmed the March 12 strike against the Haqqani Network took place inside North Waziristan. Phil Peterson, who is currently with the US military in Afghanistan, witnessed the meticulous planning and execution of this unprecedented strike against insurgent positions inside Pakistani territory. Iraq

Coalition forces killed two al Qaeda operatives and detained 24 during raids in central and northern Iraq. US soldiers detained an IED maker in eastern Baghdad. Sadr ordered the Mahdi Army to stop fighting after clashes occurred in Kut. The Chaldean Catholic Archbishop of Mosul was killed.



Somalia

Islamic terrorists beheaded three Somalian soldiers following a clash south of Mogadishu. The Somali transitional government announced that it would like to engage opposition groups in dialogue to help end the country’s 16-year civil war. Ongoing violence is forcing 20,000 civilians to flee Mogadishu each month.


Nigeria

A Nigerian Federal High Court in Abuja, granted bail to Mohammed Ashafa, charged by the Nigerian government for allegedly associating with an al Qaeda group and planning to harm American interests in Nigeria. Nigeria began training its first group of specialist anti-terrorism police.
