Afghan officials say the Afghan National Army is close to reaching 70,000 combat-ready soldiers. One Danish soldier was killed and another injured during a massive firefight with insurgents in Helmand’s Gereshk district. Nearly quarter of a million Afghans are without phone service due to recent attacks against cellular towers. Taliban fighters are also feeling the strain and may cease their attacks on the antennas according to a spokesman.
