Pakistan

Security forces retook the toll booth at the Kohat tunnel after the Taliban captured it the day prior. Sixteen Taliban were captured in Swat. The Foreign Office rejected claims that Taliban and al Qaeda leaders are operating inside Pakistan.


Afghanistan

A senior US official said Mullah Omar and the Taliban leadership are hiding in Pakistan. “They run the shura council, they run the strategic command and control out of the city of Quetta,” the official said. US forces detained three members an IED cell near the Pakistan border in the Bermel District of Paktika province.




Iraq

Coalition forces killed four al Qaeda operatives and detained 21 in northern Iraq and in Diyala province. Iraqi security forces killed three al Qaeda fighters and detained 15 during raids in Zaganiyah, Al Athba, Baghdad, and Ramadi. Iraqi police killed an al Qaeda leader in Samarra.
