A suicide bomber killed 40 Iraqis and wounded 60 during a religious festival in Najaf. Coalition forces captured a suspected Iranian-backed Special Groups finance facilitator and six operative in the Suwayrah area and a weapons facilitator in the Sha’ab neighborhood in Baghdad. Coalition forces killed four al Qaeda operatives and detained 29 during central and northern Iraq.
