Two Belgian tourists were murdered when gunmen opened fire on a tour group in Hadramut province. The unsophisticated attack targeted Yemen’s fledgling tourist industry and follows an internet posting by Al Qaeda in Yemen demanding the release of incarcerated al Qaeda members. A July suicide bombing that killed seven Spanish tourists also followed a web statement with the same demand.
