The Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies stated there were 1,503 terrorist attacks resulting in 3,448 people killed and 5,353 injured during 2007. The Pakistani Taliban threatened to launch strikes in the Northwest Frontier Province if the government fails to end operations in Swat and South Waziristan. At least 10 Pakistanis have been killed in army artillery attacks in Swat. The Taliban mortared a military base in Tank. The governor of the NWFP has resigned.
