Operation Iron Harvest is underway in Miqdadiyah; up to 20 al Qaeda fighters have been reported killed and 10 captured. The Iraqi Army arrested the al Qaeda leader behind the deadly attack on the Yazidi villages in Sinjar; police arrested a key leader of al Qaeda in Khalidiya. Police also arrested a mayor and four insurgents behind the Karbala fighting in August. Coalition forces detained six al Qaeda operatives in raids in northern Iraq. Al Qaeda targeted two Kirkuk Christian chuches with car bombs.
