Leaders of the Sadrist movement are pressing Muqtada to end the cease-fire in February. Iraqi security forces arrested 40 insurgents and defused 30 IEDs in Baghdad. Coalition forces detained 18 al Qaeda opertives during raids in central Iraq and a Special Groups operative in Baghdad. Five US soldiers were killed in an IED attack in Mosul; two police were also killed and two wounded in the city.
