Following a lethal attack on tourists Friday, Yemen blocked a wide variety of news and opinion web sites this weekend including Yemen Portal, a news aggregation site. The Yemeni regime regularly censors and distorts information. Article 19’s recent report on Yemen noted the practice of cloning, whereby a look alike newspaper (with a pro-government line) is issued in replacement of an opposition or independent newspaper.
