Police arrested Dr. Bilal Abdulla, an Iraqi, and Dr. Mohammed Asha, a Jordanian, in suspicion of being involved with the Glasgow airport car bomb attack. Eight suspects have been arrested so far in the failed Glasgow and London attacks. The Glasgow car bomb was designed to kill hundreds.


Afghanistan

Seven police were killed in an IED attack outside Kandahar City. One NATO soldier was killed in a suicide attack in southern Afghanistan on Sunday. An estimated 600 civilians have been killed in Afghanistan this year. The European Commission has allocated €200 million to the legal system and police.


Pakistan

Syed Saleem Shahzad claimed the US has a green light to attack al Qaeda and Taliban camps inside Pakistan. Eight terror suspects linked to Jaish-e-Muhammad and the Taliban have been arrested in Lahore. Two terrorists were killed after the bomb they were planting on tankers destined for Afghanistan detonated prematurely.


Algeria

Algerian security forces claim to have killed Ali Abu Dahdah, the military commander of al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. The terror group has killed 207 civilians and security forces personnel in 2007.


Yemen

A suicide car bomber killed nine and wounded seven in an attack at an ancient temple in a north province of Mareb. Seven Spanish tourists were killed. Police had warnings of a possible al Qaeda attack one month ago.

An Interior Ministry report stated the Taliban is on the march in the NWFP. A special home secretary has been appointed to help curb the ‘creeping Talibanisation™ in the NWFP. The Lal Masjid clerics threatened to retaliate if the government launches an operation against the mosque.




United Kingdom

Police are conducting a manhunt for suspects in the three car bomb attempts in London and Glasgow. The failed attacks have left behind plenty of clues. The closed circuit TV footage in London is being used to identify potential suspects.


Somalia

The son of the deputy chairman of the Islamic Courts and leader of the insurgency was killed by police in Mogadishu. Islamic Courts fighters attacked a police checkpoint in the capital. A female suicide bomber was captured in Baidoa.
