Forty-two Taliban were killed by Afghan and ISAF forces in the Sha Wali Kot district of Kandahar while seven Taliban were killed in an operation in Zabul. Afghan security forces broke up a suicide bombing cell of 50 Taliban and “foreign” operatives in Logar province. The cell was planning and carrying out attacks in Kabul.

A car bomb targeting a naval barracks in the coastal town of Dellys in eastern Algeria killed upwards of 16. This is the second major bombing in Algeria in three days, with an attempted suicide attack against Algeria’s president in Batna on September 6.
