Germany has charged “Thaer A.,” a Jordanian, with assisting with the setup of an al Qaeda cell in the Sudan. “The aim of this group was to open up a front against the ‘crusaders’ in Sudan and waging a holy war as called for by Osama bin Laden.”

Governor Orakzai said peace will be restored in in Waziristan: “We are sure that our peace efforts will soon bear fruit.” An Uzbek and a Taliban fighter were killed during fighting on Sunday. Exiled former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will attempt to return in November.

Three al Qaeda in Iraq operatives were killed and 30 captured during a series of raids in northern and central Iraq over the past several days. Shia terror groups hit a Polish base in Diwaniyah with mortars, and hit a Polish helicopter with ground fire.
