At least 60 Taliban were killed during fighting in Uruzgan province; two NATO soldiers were also killed. The US positively identified a Taliban leader captured in September as Rahmatulla, the the former Taliban commander of Andar district in Ghazni province.

Iraqi soldiers captured 12 suspected insurgents during a raid on a mosque in Baghdad. US troops captured five insurgents during operations in Baghdad’s Rashid district. Iraqi security forces captured 65 insurgents north of Hillah and detained another 19 in Baghdad. The Sadrist movement called for the end of detentions of its members.
