Lebanon

The Army is in control of most of the Nahr al-Bared Palestinian camp. Two soldiers were killed in the latest round of fighting. A group of Palestinian clerics are attempting to secure a cease fire in the conflict. A judge issued arrest warrants for 4 al Qaeda detained in the Bekaa Valley last month.

Palestinian Territories

An Israeli infantry and tank force pushed into Gaza and conducted operations against Islamic Jihad, Hamas and the PRC; 7 Palestinian fighters were killed. Foreigners are leaving the Gaza Strip while Israel is allowing Palestinians with illnesses to enter the country. PA President Abbas called Hamas “murderous terrorists.”


Afghanistan

The airstrike in Paktika that resulted in the death of 7 Afghan children targeted Abu Laith al Libi, al Qaeda commander in Afghanistan. Afghan troops retook Yahyakhel district in Paktika and Mianeshin district in Kandahar from the Taliban. Three Canadian troops were killed in an IED attack in Kandahar’s Panjwai district

Pakistan

A large explosion at a Taliban training complex 26 miles west of Miramshah in North Waziristan killed upwards of 28 and wounded 10. Some reports indicate rockets were fired from Afghanistan, others indicate explosives detonated. The Taliban banned TVs, CDs, in the Wazir areas of South Waziristan.



Kashmir

A Lashkar-e-Taiba commander and 2 fighters were killed in a raid by Indian forces. The Indian army has found no evidence of an al Qaeda presence in Kashmir.
