The Islamic Army of Iraq battled al Qaeda south of Samarra; 18 al Qaeda fighters were killed and 16 captured. Iraqi police and US forces killed four insurgents and captured eight in Samarra, including three foreign terrorists. Ten al Qaeda operatives were captured during raids in central and northern Iraq. Thirty-two insurgents were detained in Baghdad. A bus bombing in Mosul killed four and wounded 16.
