Coalition forces killed 14 al Qaeda operatives captured 37 during raids in northern and central Iraq. Iraqi police and soldiers killed a suicide bomber at a Tal Afar hospital. Iraqi security forces captured 53 insurgents, including a leader of the Islamic State of Iraq in Mosul. Six police were killed and eight wounded in an assassination attempt on the Balad Ruz police chief. Five were killed and 18 wounded in a car bomb attack in the Saadiya district in Diyala province
