The Taliban claimed it captured 28 paramilitary soldiers in North Waziristan; the military denied this. Ten soldiers were killed and 15 wounded, and 20 Taliban were killed and 30 wounded after the army conducted a strike in North Waziristan. Maulana Fazlullah and the TNSM demanded sharia law be implemented in the Malakand division of Swat. The new imam of the Red Mosque threatened violence if his demands are not met.
