A suicide bomber killed 15 soldiers of the elite Karar commando anti-terrorism group and wounded 11 while they were in their barracks. The military claimed up to 40 Taliban were killed in helicopter strikes in North and South Waziristan; the Taliban denied the claim. Eleven Frontier Corps soldiers and a policeman were captured during a Taliban attack on an outpost in Bannu. The Red Mosque will reopen after the government negotiated with Maulana Abdul Aziz.
