Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan and vowed to oppose President Musharraf. Over 2,000 of Nawaz’s PML-N supporters were arrested as they clashed with police. The Safi tribe in Mohamand signed a peace deal with the Taliban. The Taliban in North Waziristan threatened members of national and provincial assemblies against voting for Musharraf. The Taliban bombed a video center in Swat.
