Al Qaeda

Al Qaeda’s front group the Islamic State in Iraq took credit for the assassination of Sheikh Abdul Sattar Abu Risha, calling the murder a “heroic operation.” At Sattar’s funeral, thousands of mourners chanted “Revenge should be made quickly. … We will chase the killers.” Sattar’s brother Ahmed has been appointed the new leader of the Anbar Awakening movement.
