South Waziristan Taliban commander Baitullah Mehsud called off the South Waziristan peace accord signed in 2005, but the government maintains it is intact. The body of a beheaded religious leader was found in South Waziristan. Four soldiers were killed in suicide attacks and ambushes in North Waziristan, while military helicopters killed 15 “miscreants” in a strike on a compound. One policeman was killed and four wounded in a grenade attack in Bannu. “Militants” have threatened to carry out suicide attacks against members of oil exploration companies working in the NWFP.
