Sixteen Pakistani troops were kidnapped by the Taliban in South Waziristan after military helicopter gunships killed 12 Taliban fighters in North Waziristan. Five soldiers were also wounded. The Taliban bombed the homes of rival tribesmen in Darra Adamkhel after three tribesmen were killed in clashes. Five rockets were fired at the city of Hangu.
