Police have released a sketch of one of the Hyderabad bombers. Shahid Bilal, the mastermind of the Hyderabad bombings, is wanted in connection to a 2005 shooting of a professor. The Hyderabad police commissioner said sleeper cells exist inside the city.

US analysts see Sadr move aimed at Mahdi Army rogues


Sadr calls for Mahdi Army ceasefire

Muqtada al Sadr denies any role in the fighting in Karbala which resulted in at least 50 killed and 300 wounded. Sadr ordered his Mahdi Army to stop all attacks in Iraq, including those against Coalition forces.




Pakistan

The government signed a new “peace accord” with the Mohmand tribes. The 19 military personnel kidnapped by the Taliban have been freed. The Taliban released a video of a 12-year-old boy beheading one of the captive soldiers. The US stated it did not have permission to attack Taliban positions in Kurram agency.



Philippines

Marines killed two Abu Sayyaf fighters during an offensive in Basilan. The Manila police chief denied Abu Sayyaf bombers entered the city. The government will allow foreign monitors at MILF camps in Basilan and Jolo.

ISAF and Afghan forces killed over 100 Taliban after being ambushed in Kandahar’s Shawali Kot district; one Afghan soldier was killed. The Pakistani government inks another “peace accord” in the Mohmand tribal agency. The security situation in Momand has been steadily deteriorating. Recently the Taliban have taken over a mosque, declined to meet with the tribes and have been intimidating tribesmen in the region.
