Iran gives Taliban hi-tech weapons to fight British



Afghanistan

An estimated 100 Taliban fighters were killed in Thursday’s airstrike in Helmand province. An ISAF investigation suggested there were few if any civilians killed in the bombing.


United States

Police closed a highway in Goose Creek, South Carolina after pulling over a car during a routine traffic stop and finding explosives in the trunk. Two men of Middle Eastern decent are said to have been arrested. Goose Creek is the home to the Naval Weapons Station and the Naval Consolidated Brig.

Muslim insurgents detonated a bomb in front of a train station in Narathiwat province, injuring seven people including a pregnant woman. Twelve schools in Pattani province were closed after insurgents threatened teachers and students.

[UPDATE2] The NATO airstrikes in the district of Baghran in Helmand province resulted in two Taliban commanders killed, including Mullah Rahim. Mullah Mansoor Dadullah, the new commander of the Taliban in southern Afghanistan, was a target. He was said to be attending a rally and beheading of a “US spy.”
