Over two dozen Taliban fighters were killed after their frontal attack on a firebase in Uruzgan was repelled by US and Afghan forces. Twenty more Taliban fighters were killed after attacking police checkpoints in Kandahar and Zabul. The Taiban may swap South Korean hostages for captured female Taliban supporters.
