Afghan and ISAF forces are conducting Operation Pelk Mesher in Musa Qala, Helmand province. Three US soldiers and two Afghan soldiers were killed during a Taliban ambush in Kunar province, according to the provincial police chief. One Dutch soldier was killed and another wounded in an IED attack in Uruzgan province. One US soldier was killed by small-arms fire in Ghazni province during a dismounted patrol.
