Fighting between Fatah and Hamas continued as President Abbas’ office and Prime Minister Haniyeh’s home were attacked by rival factions.Four Fatah security stations were overrun. Hamas has warned Fatah to abandon other security outposts or face attacks. Eighteen have been killed over the past 2 days.


Afghanistan

NATO’s top general in Afghanistan stated Iran is supporting the Taliban. Seven police officers were killed in a friendly fire incident after police attacked a US convoy at night. Twenty-four Taliban were killed in fighting on Monday.

Iran said the US will “regret” arresting 5 of its “diplomats” in Irbil in January of 2007. IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei stated the US must defuse the crisis over Iran’s nuclear program, and Iran will have the capacity to build 3 nukes a year once it completes the planned 8,000 centrifuges,


Lebanon

Heavy fighting continues between the Army and al Qaeda linked Fatah al-Islam in the Nahr al-Bared Palestinian camp. Three soldiers and 2 Red Cross workers were killed in yesterday’s fighting, while 61 soldiers have been killed since the fighting began.

Afghanistan

Afghan and NATO forces killed 57 Taliban in 2 clashes: 30 were killed after attacking government buildings in the Murghab district in Badghis province, and 27 were killed in Zabul. The Taliban fired rockets at a building where President Karzai was giving a speech, but no casualties were reported.
