The Taliban seized the Giro district in Ghazni province, and killed the mayor, police chief and 3 policemen during the assault. Six Taliban and 3 police were killed in a clash in the Qarabagh district of Ghanzi. French presidential candidate Nicolas Sarkozy said he would consider pulling French troops out of Afghanistan.
