NATO and Afghan forces killed 69 Taliban, and lost 9 police during fighting in Girshk in Helmand province. NATO forces are still working to secure the region around the Kajaki Dam as reconstruction is halted. The Taliban plans further kidnappings of reporters after successfully securing the release of 5 senior Taliban leaders.
