Ayatollah Khamenei snubs Ahmadinejad, and Iranian lawmakers, led by Rafsanjani, seek to impeach the President. Iran continues to supply the Iraqi insurgency with IED triggers.

In the State of the Union address last night, Bush proposed sending more troops to Iraq and asked for time to let his Iraq plan work. 5 American civilians were killed in a helicopter crash. The violence continues, and the push for Baghdad accelerates.

12 Taliban and 11 policemen died in two clashes in Uruzgan and Kandahar provinces of southern Afghanistan. The US may send more troops and money to Afghanistan to fight the Taliban and its allies. Iran is stirring up trouble between Shia and Sunni factions in Herat.
