Senator Frist says the Taliban should be involved in the Afghan government. Brigadier Ed Butler, who recently negotiated a withdrawal with the Taliban in Musa Qala, said the Taliban have been “tactically defeated” in some areas. Three Taliban, along with six Afghan police and soldiers, and five civilians were killed in fighting over the past 2 days. Three NATO soldiers were wounded in a suicide attack in Kabul, one bomber was arrested.
