Mukhtar al-Mukhtar, the leader of al Qaeda affiliate GSPC, has been reported to have been killed in “clashes with members of a Mali-based armed group.” The GSPC formally joined al Qaeda in September. Italian police broke up GSPC cell and arrested six.
