Iraq

The death of Umar Farouq has been confirmed. An Iraqi spokesman announced the “prince of princes” of Jamaat Al-Tawhid Wal Jihad (al Qaeda in Iraq) has been arrested in Baghdad, but has not named him. Almost 150 insurgents were detained during operations in Kirkuk. A suicide bomber kills 10 in a Baghdad market. Hundreds of Iraqi policemen are suspected to have been poisoned during a dinner, possibly with cyanide.
