Terror alert follows intercepted AQ communication

A Euronews report on the revelation that the closure of embassies stemmed from an intercepted phone conversation between al Qaeda emir Ayman al Zawahiri and Nasir al Wuhayshi, the emir of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP).

See The Long War Journal's in-depth coverage: AQAP's emir also serves as al Qaeda's general manager.

So are we going back to the Post-9/11 color-coded “terror alert” levels? This is complete nonsense to distract from the Bradley Manning verdict and Edward Snowden’s asylum- a simple press release to SCARE everyone back into approving the Surveillance State. The long career of Ayman al Zawahiri is an incredible one. In spite of his being our mortal enemy, he avoids capture of killing. Some speculate this is because he is so clever that he is undetectable. Others say he is probably ensonced in a densely-populated area in Pakistan and our leaders don't want to suffer collateral civilian casualties. Whatever the reason, it is really a shame of the last 12 years that this human cancer is allowed to go on living, or that he is indeed undetectable. The average American knows about bin Laden, but what do they know about Zawarhiri? It's like knowing all about Hitler and Eva Braun, but not understanding Rudolf Hess and Josef Goebbels. Our leaders need to eliminate this vermin and his cadres if we are to decapitate al Qaeda.
