British soldier awarded Conspicuous Gallantry Cross
British "Serjeant" Deacon Cutterham of 1st Battalion The Rifles describes the actions that earned him the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross, the United Kingdom's second-highest award for "conspicuous gallantry during active operations against the enemy." Cutterham picked up a live grenade and threw it away from his men while on patrol in Helmand province on May 24, 2011. More on the story here.
