Lockerbie bomber returns to hero's welcome in Libya
Lockerbie bombing convict Abdel Basset al Megrahi was treated as a returning hero in Libya after being released from a Scottish prison on compassionate grounds. Megrahi has been diagnosed with cancer and has been given three months to live. Megrahi, a former Libyan intelligence officer, is responsible for the murder of 270 civilians after bombing Pan Am Flight 103 in 1988. The flight crashed over Scotland and killed nine people on the ground.
