Major Hasan shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ before murdering troops at Fort Hood

Less than one day after the deadly shootings at Fort Hood by Major Nidal Malik Hasan, some troubling facts are emerging about the Army officer. The attack killed 13 US soldiers and wounded 31 more, while Hasan remains on a ventilator after being shot by a policewoman.

Hasan appeared to be a ticking time bomb. Reports indicate Hasan had become radical over the years. He opposed US deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan and approved of attacks on US troops at home and abroad; he began to proselytize to his co-workers; and he even posted a statement on the Internet that signaled his approval of suicide attacks. Weeks before he conducted the attack, Hasan “began wearing ‘Arabic clothing.'” The morning of the attack he handed out Korans and gave away his furniture. And just before opening fire on his fellow soldiers, he shouted “Allahu Akbar,” or “God is greatest.”

Lt. Gen. Robert Cone said that suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, yelled out the Arabic for “God is great!” before the rampage that also left 30 people wounded.

In the morning [before the shooting], neighbors said Hasan handed Qurans and donated his furniture to anyone who would take it.

Neighbors described Hasan as a quiet man who began wearing “Arabic clothing” in recent weeks. Edward Windsor, a neighbor, never suspected Hasan was in the Army. Hasan’s rank surprised Windsor who would never have imagined an officer with a rank of major would have lived in an apartment that rents for $350 and houses soldiers ranked as private first class.

A source tells NPR’s Joseph Shapiro that Hasan was put on probation early in his postgraduate work at the Uniformed Service University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. He was disciplined for proselytizing about his Muslim faith with patients and colleagues, according to the source, who worked with him at the time.

“‘We shouldn’t be over there,'” Hasan told other officers, Lee said during an interview with FOX News. “‘Muslims should stand up and fight against the aggressors,'” Hasan would continue, referring to US forces, according to Lee.

Hasan also praised the murder of two US soldiers who were killed outside of a recruitment center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

“‘This is what Muslims should do, stand up to the aggressors,'” Hasan said, according to Lee. “‘Maybe we should have more of these, people should strap bombs on themselves and go into Times Square.'”

NidalHasan scribbled: There was a grenade thrown amongs a group of American soldiers. One of the soldiers, feeling that it was to late for everyone to flee jumped on the grave with the intention of saving his comrades. Indeed he saved them. He inentionally took his life (suicide) for a noble cause i.e. saving the lives of his soldier. To say that this soldier committed suicide is inappropriate. Its more appropriate to say he is a brave hero that sacrificed his life for a more noble cause. Scholars have paralled this to suicide bombers whose intention, by sacrificing their lives, is to help save Muslims by killing enemy soldiers. If one suicide bomber can kill 100 enemy soldiers because they were caught off guard that would be considered a strategic victory. Their intention is not to die because of some despair. The same can be said for the Kamikazees in Japan. They died (via crashing their planes into ships) to kill the enemies for the homeland. You can call them crazy i you want but their act was not one of suicide that is despised by Islam. So the scholars main point is that “IT SEEMS AS THOUGH YOUR INTENTION IS THE MAIN ISSUE” and Allah (SWT) knows best.
